Our Brockport, NY location is looking for a Preventative Maintenance Group Leader to join our 1st Shift team!

Responsible to train, motivate and supervise maintenance associates within the guidelines of company policies and procedures. Directly supervises the facility preventative maintenance staff. Communicates company policies and procedures to those associates assigned to them. Enforces work and safety rules. Coordinates all shift maintenance operations to meet or exceed standards set for efficiency, direct and indirect labor and product recoveries. This first line supervisory position interacts with all hourly associates whose responsibilities vary from production, quality systems, administrative, human resources, and distribution.

  • Actively participates and promotes plant safety programs.
  • Supervises shift maintenance associates, insuring that all facility functions are carried out in a manner which is safe, and complies with all company, state and federal mandates.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all shift incident reporting, and corresponding documentation.
  • Schedules and assigns daily shift work, projects, etc. to maintenance staff for completion, setting priorities as applicable.
  • Supports the repack and distribution operations by insuring proper repair and operation of all facility equipment, buildings, grounds, etc. 
  • Assists with the design and installation of capital improvement projects.
  • Assesses shift staffing needs, coordinating employee vacations, leaves, etc. to insure optimum coverage at all times. 
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all maintenance related reporting and paperwork.
  • Must use protective guards and PPE.
  • Must obey all warning tags and signs when working on equipment. Properly lubricates machinery. 
  • Must be capable of making some electrical repairs – at the supervisor discretion. 
  • Attends training sessions as required. 
  • In collaboration with Production and Distribution Group Leaders provides the necessary direction to insure the production of a consistent quality product that is delivered on time and within budgeted costs.
  • Provides the necessary direction to insure improved efficiencies. Provides recommendations on ways to improve efficiencies through the use of new equipment, procedures or techniques. Monitors maintenance processes to eliminate unnecessary departmental downtime.
  • Personal work habits conform to all company/facility policies and procedures as prescribed by the "Lead By Example" philosophy of business practice.
  • Responsible for the health & safety management system to achieve established goals and provide a safe, efficient environment for all employees. 
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety, and set a proper example at all times.
  • Enforce and implement policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Must be available to work four, (4) – 10 hr shifts, plus mandatory weekend work.


Profil

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Knowledge, skills and abilities listed below are representative of those that must be possessed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must possess a demonstrated ability to work and understand technical manuals/jargon associated with maintenance and operation, adjustment and repair. 
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. 
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend facility blueprints and schematics. 
  • OSHA Affected, Hearing Conservation, Blood Borne Pathogens, Confined Space, Hazard Communication.
  • OSHA Authorized Training in Lift Truck, Electrical, Hot Work, Lock-Out Tag-Out, PPE, Fire Ext. 
  • Company and facility training in Facility Work Rules, Facility Security, Food Safety, GMP’s, HACCP. Lift Truck Certified.
  • Knowledge in the use of the following instruments/equipment: Volt, ohm, ammeter, Micrometer, Cutting Torch. Lathe, Calipers, Milling Machine, Drill Press, Grinder, Pipe Threading Equipment, Taps and Dies, Band Saw, Metal Break, All associated hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks, and is dependable.
  • Must demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, (Written and Oral). 
  • Knowledge of mechanical diagnostic and analytical skills.
  • Five (5) years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting
