The Global compact is the UN initiative for a more sustainable world
The UN Global Compact is currently the largest international initiative of voluntary commitment to sustainable development with more than 13,000 participants in 170 countries. It's also actually the starting point for any organization seeking to support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in September 2015 by the UN.
Launched in July 2000, a year after the appeal by the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, the Global Compact is a pact signed by companies, organizations, UN agencies, the world of work and civil society based on ten universally recognized principles. These principles provide a framework for the voluntary commitment of organizations that want to improve their societal responsibility approach.
