Come join our Oakfield, NY team as Waste Water Technician and contribute to feeding the world during these unprecedented times. As Waste Water Technician you will monitor and maintain water levels in ponds and discharging water as necessary at an essential business during the COVID-19 crisis and make your mark during a challenging time at a processing facility that must continue to produce in-demand frozen food products for American consumers.

  • Operate the Waste Water Treatment System in compliance with the facility’s NYSDEC SPDES permit (Activated Sludge / Spray Field)
  • Monitor and maintain water levels in ponds and discharging water as necessary with constant communication to the Plant Manager
  • Perform process control documentation, lab tests and use of microscope to view bacteria conditions
  • Collect samples from ponds and test wells and record all pertinent meters
  • Use computer spreadsheets for data collection, sharing and report generation; including the monthly Discharge Monitoring Report (NetDMR), Spray Irrigation Supplement, etc
  • Responsible for completing all quality checks and paperwork associated with the job task
  • Maintain up to date contents of the Waste Water O&M Manual
  • Perform proper installation, maintenance and adjustments of various machinery and components as part of the system
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and machinery
  • Identify components, request replacement parts and maintain preventative maintenance records
  • Follow parts inventory procedures
  • Maintain, plan and perform preventative maintenance for specific building services
  • Operate various machinery (tractors / lifts) and attachments for waste removal and grounds / equipment maintenance
  • Provide updates to Plant Manager on work that has been performed
  • Work with plant maintenance group in other areas as necessary


Profile

  • Prior experience or knowledge of Waste Water
  • Knowledge/Education in Chemistry or Biology would be plus
  • Ability to write up waste and safety reports
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively communicate with other
  • Ability to multi-task and excellent record keeping skills
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Knowledge / understanding of science including chemistry and microbiology
  • Knowledge of all mechanical equipment and the maintenance of the equipment
  • Must have tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks and the ability to use these to complete the job
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to learn other maintenance areas
