Bonduelle wins the Responsible Economy Gold Trophy awarded by the Alliances Network

Yesterday evening, in the Lille suburb of Marcq-en-Barœul, the Bonduelle Group received the Responsible Economy Gold Trophy, given in recognition of the Group's insertion policy for disabled workers. This trophy, awarded in the category of companies with over 500 employees, was presented to Christophe Bonduelle, Group CEO, and Hélène D’Huyveter, director of the Renescure plant, which was the pilot site for this policy. Social diversity is an integral part of Bonduelle's CSR strategy (Corporate social responsibility), and includes the insertion of disabled people, initiated over five years ago, particularly at Renescure.

Since 2008, this long-standing site and cradle of the Bonduelle Group, employs three people with intellectual disabilities on permanent contracts. After extensive preparatory work in collaboration with the "Papillons Blancs" Hazebrouck ESAT*, Human Resources have implemented a selection and recruitment procedure. This enabled three people with intellectual disabilities to be hired since April 2008 on workstations that needed little adaptation of equipment but especially prior communication to all Renescure employees regarding disability, and three Bonduelle referents were trained to enhance their integration.

This initiative has promoted stronger ties between the Bonduelle plant and its environment. The site had 613 employees (Full Time Equivalent) including 41 employees with disabilities in 2012. This integration strategy was initially developed in France where the rate of employment of disabled people is 8.14%, and was then extended to the entire Group.

The Responsible Economy Trophies organised by the Alliances Network every year reward the efforts of companies which integrate Corporate Social Responsibility into the core of their strategy. The twelve most advanced and innovative companies in this domain have been selected from around fifty. The Alliances Network aims to support companies to help them improve their performance whilst respecting People and the Environment.  It also organises World Forum Lille, the first global forum for responsible economy. Bonduelle has been a major partner in this event since it started in 2007.
