The Bonduelle requirement

Vegetables are subject to weather changes and are therefore fragile, unpredictable and perishable.
In each step, from the field to the consumer’s plate, Bonduelle strives to improve the quality of its vegetables without altering them.

There are checks at every point irrespective of the location where vegetables are harvested and processed.
These checks are made by “Bonduelle experts” at every step in the production process from seeding to the finished product. Consumer tests are also conducted.

Extensive bacteriological and chemical analyses conducted in laboratories also make it possible to guarantee the taste, smell and nutritional values of each vegetable and product safety.

 

 

Bonduelle requirements

 

All Bonduelle production facilities ensures greater control over the quality of products and services. For vegetables manufactured outside the group 's factories and sold under the Bonduelle brand, a supplier authorisation and affiliation system is applied.

 

 

 

Bonduelle products meet high standards of requirements with regard to:

  • Selection of producers and seeds,
  • Crop tracking,
  • Vegetable maturity and physical and chemical properties,
  • Manufacturing processes,
  • Recipes,
  • Packaging

 

Consumer testing

Bonduelle ensures that the composition of its products rigorously meets European and local regulations. This also applies to the production, processing and packaging processes in use

Bonduelle compares its products against the competition and subjects them to consumer tests to verify that appearance, taste, texture and service meet expectations.

Bonduelle provides very specific information on its packaging concerning nutritional content, the benefits of a balanced diet and even suggests cooking methods tailored to the product.

 

 

The regulation

 

The European Directive 2003/89/EC provides for the obligation to indicate more clearly the presence of allergenic ingredients on the labels of foodstuffs from November 2005 on.
 

A list of 12 substances that must systematically be mentioned was established:

 

  • Cereals containing gluten (i.e. wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut or their hybridised strains) and products thereof
  • Crustaceans and products thereof
  •  Eggs and products thereof
  •  Fish and products thereof
  • Peanuts and products thereof
  • Soybeans and products thereof
  • Milk and products thereof (including lactose)
  • Nuts i.e. almond, hazelnut, walnut, cashew, pecan nut, Brazil nut, pistachio nut, Macadamia nut and Queensland nut and products thereof
  • Celery and products thereof
  • Mustard and products thereof
  • Sesame seeds and products thereof
  • Sulphur dioxide and sulphites at concentrations of more than 10 mg/kg or 10 mg/litre expressed as SO2

 

This complete and precise information is particularly important for consumers who suffer from allergies or intolerances to certain food substances.
 

 

Bonduelle and allergens


 In accordance with the regulation in force, the known presence of potentially allergenic substances will be indicated in the composition of our products listed in the “Our products” section of our various sites.

 

In accordance with this new labelling regulation, Bonduelle carry out the upgrading of its packagings.

Our canned, frozen or delicatessen products (ready-to-eat salads available in the delicatessen food department of your stores) are packaged in workshops which also use :

  • Eggs and products thereof
  • Fish and products thereof
  • Peanuts and products thereof
  • Soybeans and products thereof

  • Nuts i.e. almond, hazelnut, walnut, cashew, pecan nut, Brazil nut, pistachio nut, Macadamia nut and Queensland nut and products thereof
  • Celery and products thereof
  • Mustard and products thereof

Our salad products in sachet (4th range salads) are packaged in workshops which also use celery and mustard leaves.
