As part of the “I’m 9 years old and I like vegetables” programme, the Bordères and Labenne plants are planning visits and workshops to raise awareness of the tastes available and the importance of a balanced diet. The workshops are organised and conducted by staff from the plants for the pupils of local schools. Initiated at Bordères 11 years ago, this programme turns members of staff from the plants into ambassadors for the Bonduelle group and allows them to participate in local life, offering teachers educational tools and learning materials.
During the month of June, five primary schools and middle schools in South-West France took part in this initiative. The activities start in the schools, where the focus is on nutrition and specifically vegetables, as well as the different types of jobs involved in the production of canned and frozen food. A second phase then takes place in the factory during the production of peas, so that the children can discover the production processes, learn about sensory analysis and get the chance to taste some of our maize products.
Through the Louis Bonduelle Foundation, the Group has also supported local projects all over the world on food-related themes since 2004.
